Last year when London Burned the musical world went very quiet. Sure the NME did their piece, and people were appalled that the UK indie record labels had been touched by the flames, but the voices that were needed to talk about youth, to talk about the catalyst went silent. While the shops with the kicks were looted, the artists that sang about them were mute. Now a year on, Plan B has opened the door for us - whether people were right or wrong, shouldn’t music offer an opinion in the same way it has for ever other moment of youth revolt?

Here’s Ill Manors by Plan B the first taste off his new record of the same name which will be out in May.

When music mattered in the 60s, people said Tune in, Turn on, Drop out. These days is it better to tune in, listen and at least engage?
